Opus 01

OPUS is the name of a software process that constitutes an algorithm dealing with the transfer of analog information to digital. OPUS is also a list of musical works. In the work OPUS 10, original harp music by Adiya, which serves as an analog expression, is transformed through a technological process programmed by Uri into non-material digital information. The information continues to flow in two channels: the sound of the harp on one hand and a digital channel on the other. The digital channel is materialized as content printed on pages with a digital sequence translation of the number 10. The pages are ejected and flood a transparent box in which the harpist plays, creating a circular dialogue of dependence, containment, and flooding. The pages with the digital translation take over the space of the box, as an image of digital dominance over our space, but the analog continues to exist as the tangible paper material compressed in the box. The sounds of the printer, the harp playing, the paper sealing a string, the time it takes for the box to fill up, create a musical progression that invites the viewer and listener to peek at the moment of encounter. The installation premiered at the Musrara Mix Festival.״
