TZZAZIT, an art group consisting of artist Eili Levy and myself, was instrumental in forming my artistic identity. The project began in 2011 and reached its peak through initiatives that materialized at the Center for Digital Art under the management of Eyal Danon. A central component of our work involved community projects in the "Jesy Cohen" neighborhood in Holon, where TZZAZIT received government funding through the "artist in the community" program. TZZAZIT was also active throughout the country and in Berlin.
My participation in the TZZAZIT group helped facilitate the transition from the Holon FABLAB to its current incarnation as the Max Machines & Crafts, art and community fabrication center.
From a past publication about TZZAZIT:
TZZAZIT is a nationwide community project operating in various towns that creates opportunities for residents to participate in artistic enterprises in the field of plastic arts as both artists and partners, by building "Meizazim*" – moving installations.
The proposed work addresses the complex dialogue between art and community, adding a new element: intercity and intercultural dialogue.
We initiate and create encounters between people, objects, technologies, and cultures, enabling various forms of connection. The underlying basis is a connection whose results are unplanned – it is the observation of these results that intrigues and activates us, creating the next stage of the work. This process occurs at all levels: from the active personal encounter between TZZAZIT artists and workshop participants and the collaborative process, to the technological encounter (in this project: "Meizaz*" moving installation versus video image). We utilize various connections between materials and movements.
*"Meizazim" is a term created by Eili Levy
